1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the ZENAO mobile application, our connected-device services, and support interactions that link to this policy (collectively, the “Services”). In this policy, “ZENAO,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the ZENAO Services. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@zenao.art.

We collect information you provide, information generated when you use the Services, and information returned by a connected ZENAO device. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an identity token and the account information that provider makes available according to your provider settings.

3. App permissions and nearby-device setup

  • Bluetooth: used to discover, pair with, and provision nearby ZENAO devices.
  • Wi-Fi and location permission: used where the operating system requires permission to discover or identify nearby Wi-Fi networks during setup. The current app does not use GPS location to track your movements.
  • Camera or photo library: used when you choose to scan a device code or select a profile image.
  • Local network and internet access: used to communicate with your ZENAO device and our service infrastructure.
Wi-Fi credentials during setup

When you enter a Wi-Fi network name and password, the app uses them to provision the nearby ZENAO device. Under the current app design, the password is sent to the device through the local provisioning connection and is not added to your ZENAO account profile. The app may hold the credentials temporarily while the setup session is active.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • provide account registration, authentication, and account recovery;
  • connect, control, update, and troubleshoot ZENAO devices;
  • save collections, preferences, schedules, and playback settings;
  • enable device-sharing features at your direction;
  • send service-related messages and respond to support requests;
  • protect the Services, enforce our terms, detect fraud or abuse, and comply with law; and
  • improve the reliability, accessibility, and performance of the Services.

We do not use personal information from the ZENAO app to build a profile for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

5. How we disclose information

We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: hosting, data storage, email delivery, file storage, security, and customer-support providers that process information for us under contractual restrictions.
  • Authentication providers: Apple or Google when you choose their sign-in service. Their processing is also governed by their own privacy policies.
  • At your direction: for example, when you invite another user to share control of a device.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or defend legal claims.
  • Business transfers: as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain account information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. We may retain limited information after a deletion request where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcing our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information through our Account Deletion page. We aim to complete verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law, typically within 30 days. Uninstalling the app or removing a device from the app does not by itself delete your account.

7. Your choices and U.S. privacy rights

You can update certain profile information and app permissions through the app or your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information, and to appeal a denied request. You may also have rights to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. ZENAO does not currently use app personal information for those opt-out activities.

To submit a request, email support@zenao.art from the address associated with your account and describe the request. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

During the preceding 12 months, the categories of personal information we may have collected are identifiers; customer-record information; internet or electronic-network activity; approximate geolocation derived from an IP address; and inferences limited to preferences used to operate the Services. We collect and disclose these categories for the business purposes described above. We do not knowingly sell or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use sensitive personal information, if any, only for permitted purposes needed to provide and protect the Services.

8. Security and international processing

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live, subject to protections required by applicable law.

9. Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

10. This legal website

This legal website does not include advertising cookies or behavioral analytics in its current version. Our hosting provider may process standard connection logs, such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and requested pages, to deliver and secure the site.
